Lynda McDonald - Creative Textiles

My embroidery uses both hand and machine                                                           techniques; my creative process just a matter                                                           of ‘following the thread’.

My inspiration is the Japanese concept of Wabi                                                       Sabi, a Japanese world view centred on the                                                             acceptance of transience and imperfection,                                                             roughly translated as the ability to see beauty                                                         in decay, whether this is in the myriad of                                                                 colours in a rusting object or the tattered layers                                                       of a billposter.

My work has been widely exhibited in the UK and Ireland, including the Mall Galleries, the Royal Ulster Academy and Uillinn/West Cork.

After 40 wonderful years in London, I now live on a watery drumlin-strewn peninsular in Northern Ireland.
